Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, you have probably heard of the Austrian Incest Case ™. Apparently some dude sexually abused his daughter for TWENTY FOUR YEARS, giving birth to SEVEN CHILDREN and not a single soul suspected a thing. Of course I could go on for pages on how this is absolutely horribly wrong and all that blablabla, but I think we all agree on that so I won’t.

When you stop to think about it, names are actually quite a cool concept. They are probably as old as human speech itself and must have been ‘developed’ for lack of a better word to directly identify individual persons. Perhaps even slightly more awesome was the invention of titles. Titles are both more versatile and more static than names. Static because titles tend to refer to a single function (e.g. emperor, doctor or police officer). By this title and hence role alone a person is not defined. More interesting however is the versatility of these titles. Titles are dynamic, automatically making them interesting. But more important is their ability to interfere with names.

I have returned, and with all difficult tasks finished I can finally focus on the things I really enjoy doing. Which are, in no particular order: writing; watching Doctor Who; obsessing over my nutrition and last but definitely not least ‘turning the wheel’. Naturally it is this last subject that will be the focus for today’s philosophy lesson.

I feel I must apologize for the lack of updates the past week(s). Truth is I am in fact not unemployed, contrary to popular belief, and I have been rather busy and will continue to be so for the rest of the week. Hence, you may regard this as a filler article. In fact, the primary reason for this wall of text is to show you I am still very much alive and updating. So I’m not going to teach you any valuable new life-lessons today, we’ll just have to make due with what we already know. Which is; delusional people.

When I was a kid, during Easter we went out in the garden to look for painted eggs my and Evil’s parents hide. It was great fun and we enjoyed it tremendously. Now everything is different. Recently while shopping I suddenly noticed that Easter has gone the way of Christmas. Suddenly I was bombarded by gigantic green posters clouded with eggs and a rather intimidating bunny. Then it hit me; for some odd reason companies have decided that from this year forth Easter is to be the new Christmas #2.

And thus comes the fasting to an end. Here and here I have commented on the ritual Evil and myself decided to follow for shits and giggles. with the coming of today the sugar-embargo end and we can engulf ourselves in chocolate ones more.

Comes time, comes boredom. Figuring I have about an hour of time to kill before I’m demanded elsewhere AND feeling slightly guilty for not having posted anything here for 10 days (hey, this site is still my little mental baby) I figured it is time to wrench out another article.

I normally avoid software reviews like the plague. This goes both ways, I cannot be bothered to read a 3,000 word essay on the efficiency of Generic Video Player #19 nor do I find writing about said program particularly thrilling. Today I make the exception for the cancer that is Vista, the latest operating system from the Microsoft Corporation.

With the coming of today (25th of February) we have come halfway with Lent. To recap, Lent is the Christian fasting season of 40 days that started on Ash Wednesday (6th of February this year) and lasts till the 16th of March 2008. Sometime over a month ago I decided it would be fun to participate in this almost extinct ritual. Thus I formulated my own rules and guidelines to regulate the coming 40 days. This post serves as a half-way through checkpoint to evaluate what I have learned till now.

I do not like self-pity. Consequently, I do not like people who pity themselves. As a result of this, whenever a large amount of people start to pity themselves over a vague ‘condition’ (like say, convincing themselves they are autistic) there is this instinctive ever-judging part of me that conjures up the urge to research said topic and devastate it more brutally than the Americans devastated Hiroshima. The other day I happened to find a website seemingly dedicated to the ‘Asperger’s syndrome’. Naturally I could not resist the temptation to feast on the horrible combination of self-induced misery and quackery within.
