Do you ever have days in which the universe just seems slightly of course? In which a number of low-probability (unlikely) events just seem to follow up on one another in the most absurd way possible? I don’t, I have weeks of the stuff.
A back-story is required. A few months ago my bike (reference; bike A was stolen. This is in and of itself not that terribly uncommon. Fortunately I had another one, which I will call bike B. Too bad for me, bike B is worthless; eventually I gave in and decided to never ride it without construction gloves, as it would frequently (average 3x a day) break down and require my undivided mechanical skills.
Regardless of its shortcomings, I still rode the hellish thing for 2 months. Until, little over 2 weeks ago, bike B was taken from me as well. I spend that day cursing as I had to walk home from work. That same evening I was just strolling around, seeing if any local student was willing to part with his trusted method of transportation for a reasonable fee when I stumbled upon the impossible; bike A lying around at a comfortable distance of 2 meter. Sure the box containing the chain was shattered and the lock was replaced, but God damn me if that wasn’t my bike. So I did what every healthy young male would do; towed that fucker back home. Next day I replaced the lock with my own and went my merry way.
Now that in and of itself is not that spectacular. Unlikely, but not impossible. Were it not that I just took a walk outside a few minutes ago and nearly tripped (literally, it was lying on the floor), over bike B.
It’s a good thing bike B is such a complete piece of shit, I almost feel sorry for the thief. Almost. I’m going to slash my own tires now. On second thought, that fucker is mine.
