This apparently is the opinion of several ‘leading sexual health charities’. This can’t go wrong at all.
Call me old fashioned, but when I was four I was barely sentient. I was unable to read, write, dress myself or form coherent sentences (guessing here). Most children of four will be unable to grasp what adults view as basic concepts such as money or freedom. Let alone absorb what is generally considered a complex concept such as sex and relationships. In fact, while my memory of anything more than a year ago is pretty vague, I’m pretty sure sexual education was not started until the first year of (our equivalent) High School, think around age 12. In retrospect I think this is a fine idea seeing as you really have no bussiness concerning yourself with anything of such nature before that age. Of course their will always be exceptions but let us be honest here, you can’t save everyone.
There is, however, always the chance that I am mistaken. The UK is more or less infamous for its high teenage pregnancies and according to the same news article there has been a rise of 10% in the number of <16 year olds having abortions. Which is quite a big deal. Though to be fair, let us not presume that this number would lower following sex education. Without proper scientific research backing this up, you will not convince me that these teenagers honestly did not know that fucking around (pun intended) without contraception could lead to pregnancies. Then again, I’d be surprised.
