This just in, an epic scientific study shows that the most prevalent cause of all the enormous people around us is not our boring sedentary lifestyle, but is in fact our gluttonous craving (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2074518/Obesity-epidemic-%27not-caused-by-idleness%27.html). This is in contrast to what has generally assumed to be the case; a mix of being a sloth and stuffing yourself. But alas, science has proven otherwise. And a s a scientist in heart and trade I must bow down and accept.
For those of you wondering how they concluded this, I must first provide a basic amount of information. Namely this; on a pure weight-based equation, the only thing that determines if you gain, lose or maintain your body weight is the amount of energy you consume (in the form of calories) compared to the amount you burn via exercise and keeping your organs alive. If you eat more than you burn, you gain weight, the opposite is also true and if you eat exactly the amount you burn you will maintain your weight. This is the basic rule and there is no exception. NO EXCEPTIONS.
In the linked research some scientists concluded that people burn an equal amount of energy (calories) now as they did 20 years ago. However, the amount of fat people has been rising (can’t be arsed to quote a source, but these are abundant). The only logical conclusion is that people now eat (way) more than they did in the past. This leading me to sadly having to change my perspective on the matter.
You see, until now I always assumed, like all other nutrition obsessed, that a mix of no exercise and big-time eating was the cause. Thus I also assumed all fat people are lazy disgusting slobs that can’t help but stuff themselves with their disgusting sugar-covered shit. Alas, I was wrong and it turns out people are just helpless creatures that can’t help but stuff themselves with their disgusting sugar-covered shit.
Well, the more you know.
