Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, you have probably heard of the Austrian Incest Case ™. Apparently some dude sexually abused his daughter for TWENTY FOUR YEARS, giving birth to SEVEN CHILDREN and not a single soul suspected a thing. Of course I could go on for pages on how this is absolutely horribly wrong and all that blablabla, but I think we all agree on that so I won’t.
Instead, let me be amongst the first to say that what the fecker did is goddamn impressive. I mean, TWENTY FOUR GODDAMN YEARS! That requires some damn persistence on the assailant’s part. And let us not neglect how he planned and executed the whole endeavor. Apparently he came up with some fantasy story about cults and silly things like that THAT EVERYONE ACTUALLY ACCEPTED! If you want the exact details go read the linked article. Furthermore, he kept 3 ‘kids’ in the cellar, one for EIGHTEEN YEARS! More so, according to my national television news network (so I can’t cite a written source, sorry), the oldest son was physically far stronger than his father and could have easily escaped if he so wished. So apparently either his mother or father must have convinced him to retain from doing so, which points into some not too shabby psychological manipulation.
Another thing that bothers me is the fact that Fritzl’s wife says she never knew. I have problems with this. Either she really was that dumb (likely) or she willfully shut that part of her brain out (equally likely). Whatever the case, humanity obviously has no need for her and she should be prosecuted to the fullest.
With all that said, cases like this are excellent examples of why the death penalty sometimes is a Good Thing. To all you extreme humanitarians out there; some people don’t deserve a second chance, they don’t deserve mercy and first and foremost, they do not deserve human rights. Contrary to the name, things like ‘right to live’ should be privileges, not rights.
