Comes time, comes boredom. Figuring I have about an hour of time to kill before I’m demanded elsewhere AND feeling slightly guilty for not having posted anything here for 10 days (hey, this site is still my little mental baby) I figured it is time to wrench out another article.
As the name might imply, filler articles serve no real purpose besides existing. For me, they are generally written in a time like this, when the time between articles is aproaching two weeks and I’m still completely devoid of ideas on what to write. Either that or I have a big one planned and can’t be bothered to type that out yet. Hence we turn to filler articles, whose purpose is to keep the site alive and show anyone browsing that we are, in fact, still updating.
If you’re still clueless of what I mean, here are some of the Vicious & Evil filler articles of this year;

Read them if you have not already (it’s not that much, really) and compare them with stuff written with an actual message imbedded;

Wether that message is an opinion or merely a series of personal anecdotes is irrelevant, if I write about it it probably holds some meaning to me. This does not automatically mean that filler articles are rubbish, they merely have no depth in them.
Now we have established the difference between ‘genuine’ articles and filler articles, one might ponder as to what the subject of filler articles generally is. Truth be told I personally have no real clue on how such articles (like this) will end when starting on the opening pararaph. Moreso, typically the only thing I am certain of is the title. And even that tends to be a spur-of-the-moment thingy. Par example, i made up this title yesterday night when I didn’t feel like actually writing. And if you read the three filler articles examples mentioned above, you will notice that they do not really say or mean anything, they are words of empty entertainment, not of message.
Now even though the typical filler article (because you will find them elsewhere, do not be fooled) starts out with nothing, I like to think that this one has taken slightly different a path in its short life. For now when I think of it and have formulated my thoughts on the matter with words, I hope to have enlightened at least one individual on meaningless versus useful text.
On the other hand, now that I have given a message, are these words still merely digital fodder?
